Mingxi.jpg

Q: What did you think about the Michael Kors Jet Set show and collection presented in Shanghai?

A: It was one of the most amazing shows I’ve ever walked in. Seeing the real airplane in the show venue was just wow! It was such an honor for me to open the third section of the show with Zhao Lei. I loved my outfit – perfectly cut, powerful and really modern.

Q: What did you think about the overall Jet Set Experience?

The Jet Set Experience was really fun and creative. We could receive updates from Instagram, Weibo and WeChat – it was everywhere.

Q: What do you love about Shanghai?

A: Everything. I was born and raised in Shanghai and I think that the most fascinating part of Shanghai is its fast speed and the atmosphere of fashion, with a touch of retro as well.

Q: You travel so much with your career. Do you like to collect anything from your trips?

A: I used to collect fridge magnets wherever I travelled to. And, I always go to local vintage shops to discover jeans, T-shirts and accessories – I have so many vintage pieces.

Q: What are the travel essentials you can't live without?

A: My iPhone and charger – I have to keep connected when I’m traveling.

Q: How do you stay paparazzi ready for when you emerge from the plane?

A: Get a facial mask and put on my sunglasses.

Q: What’s your go-to travel outfit?

A: Shorts and jumper or baseball blazer

Q: What are the items of clothing you always pack in your suitcase?

A: I always pack wearable and chic clothes into my suitcase. So, Michael Kors!

Q: How would you describe your signature style in five words or less?

A: Mix and match

Q: Who are your favorite bloggers or Instagrammers that you like to follow?

A: I get inspired from Michael Kors’ Instagram account. I also follow quite a lot of bloggers like Susie Bubble and Adam Katz Sinding.

Q: Who is your style icon, past or present?

A: I don’t have a specific style icon, sometimes even a passer-by on the street can be my inspiration.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Style Secrets May 29, 2014 09:50

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a stylishly seasoned traveller. Case in point: she was photographed looking flawless in Los Angeles, London, Berlin and New York – all in the space of a month. The British model-slash-actress’ latest stopover was in Shanghai for The Michael Kors Jet Set Experience, where she walked the runway and revealed her travel tips, wardrobe secrets and go-to Instagram filter…

Q: What did you think about the Michael Kors Jet Set collection shown in Shanghai?

A: The collection was the epitome of jet set chic. I loved all the different themes in the show. I was in the Aspen section and my outfit was really glamorous and decadent. The eveningwear was stunning also, perfect for the red carpet – I had my eye on a few looks!

Q: What are the travel essentials you can't live without?

A: My must-haves are a good book or a good TV show, which I watch on my laptop. I’m currently reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tart and watching Game of Thrones. I can’t leave home without my iPhone because I love taking photos of my travels and uploading them to Instagram.

Q: How do you stay “paparazzi ready” for when you emerge from an airplane?

A: I always keep a few make-up essentials in my bag to do a quick touch up before landing. I use a powder foundation, a little concealer to cover any impurities and a cream blush for my cheeks and lips. Big shades and a great hat are a must have also.

Q: What is your favorite city to vacation in and why?

A: I love Ibiza – I go every summer. I love chilling in the day and then dancing the night away.

Q: What is your dream beach holiday escape and what would you wear there?

A: The Caribbean has some of the best beaches in the world. I also love Kauai, Hawaii – it’s so beautiful there. I always pack lots of bikinis, shades and a big hat. A great caftan or cover-up is essential too.

A: On-the-go, chic, fun, feminine and timeless

Q: Who is your style icon, past or present?

A: Lauren Hutton and Carine Roitfeld

Freida Pinto wows at Cannes Film Festival May 28, 2014 08:47

All eyes – and cameras – were on Freida Pinto when she stepped out on the Cannes Film Festival 2014 red carpet, wearing a breathtaking custom-made Michael Kors gown. The actress talks about this show-stopping moment, her travel essentials and exciting upcoming projects…

Q: How did you choose your Michael Kors gown for Cannes?

A: It was rather effortless and organic. The idea was to wear a one-of-a-kind custom piece and I had about 3 equally beautiful dresses to choose from. As soon as I put on the nude beige number, with sequins and feathers, there was a unanimous gasp of approval from all present at my fitting. It was pretty much the first time since 2009 that I slid into a princess-like dress, with volume and drama. It just screamed “Cannes” and that was it!

Q:  Do you remember the first Michael Kors item you ever purchased?

A: A watch I bought as a gift for a friend.

Q: What inspires you most about the Cannes Film Festival?

A: Cannes Film Festival is one of the most amazing launch pads for new talent in filmmaking. Actors and directors have been discovered and re-invented here. There is something magical about saying: "My film premiered at Cannes".

Q:  How would you define classic Cannes red-carpet dressing? Do any Hollywood icons come to mind?

A: Given that the setting is so beautiful, black gowns are almost a little wasted on the red carpet in Cannes, even though I absolutely love a classic black dress. When it comes to Hollywood icons, Sophia Loren comes to mind.

Q:  What are your favorite types of films to watch?

A: Oh I like anything and everything. My moods decide my film viewing choice and my moods always swing from one extreme to another ensuring I've covered the whole spectrum of film genres.

Q: What are your fashion must-haves when you travel?

A: I don’t know how to travel light so my fashion must-haves include everything for myself and maybe another two girls, as well! From dresses to jeans to T-shirts to bags and, oh yes, shoes!

Q: Would you rather dress for a day in the city or a day at the beach?

A: A day in the city.

Q: How does your native Indian culture fit into your signature style?

A: I think my love for colors is something very Indian and also I do have a very deep appreciation for intricate embroidery and design work on clothes.

Q: Can you tell us about your roles in the upcoming movies, Knight of Cups and Desert Dancer?

A: I play very different roles in both films but as a rule I don't discuss my characters too much before the films are out. Let's just say there will be some dance in there somewhere.

A Day in A Life: May 20, 2014 12:16

Before her big moment in the finale of the Michael Kors Jet Set Experience fashion show in Shanghai, Pedaru’s day was packed to the brim with fittings, a dress rehearsal and a glam ribbon cutting party at the new Michael Kors flagship in the Jing’an Kerry Centre. Despite the busy schedule, the Kors supermodel managed to sneak in time to see the sights, share some laughs and relax by the pool at the luxe Shangri-La hotel. No matter the occasion, Pedaru always looks picture-perfect.
